None of this is okay

I just have to say kudos to the nurses at HSC who have shown the rest of us in this province it’s time to speak up, stand up and vote. Until that happens, even if our Employer wanted to do the right thing, they need the funds to make that happen.

We’ve hired 800 nurses?! Yeah right. How many have been hired and left before their 6 months are up?

We used to be so vibrant. We used to have resources, therapeutic groups and activities. This is such a loss for our residents.

I can’t exist like this anymore. Where is the damn government?!

It’s time to take action! From the hospital to community, we are NOT being kept safe. In fact, the Personal Care Home is a perfect example. There are no cameras in or outside the facility. There have been times when lean-to shelters pop up against the residents’ windows. This is not fair for our seniors on the other side of those windows.

We need more than one wound care nurse in the North. The population depends on it. One nurse to service the entire area is not adequate. The catchment areas are just so geographically large, and the number of patients with diabetes and amputations needing wound care is expanding.

The Minister of Health stood in our facility to say that the Northern Health Regional Authority has received the funding. That’s a total lie. We are suffering here. We are not safe. We are breaking down day after day. What a waste of a stop on the infamous Bullshift Tour.

I never felt like I needed to purchase the supplementary nursing protection insurance until now. The risk is too high. This year, I felt like I needed to do that because every single day, I fear my licence is in jeopardy. I am constantly put into impossible situations.

I’ve applied for 16 non-nursing jobs in the last few months because I am so fed up with what’s happening in healthcare.

Oftentimes, our job is to get patients stable enough to transport and pray the weather cooperates…

A lot of times, we will end up admitting patients into ER rooms, which means we have to close the department. When we do that, it impacts Selkirk. We just don’t have enough space.

How is our Premier so out of touch?
